Fruits Basket
(2019) Episode 1 Review
so the first episode of fruits basket has arrived and as
someone who never watched the original and may or read the manga that this is
based off of I was pretty excited for this new anime adaptation mainly because
one of my very close friends izzy is a huge fan was praising it as much as you
can possibly praise the series and I've heard nothing but good things about
this series and how it was going to be more than just the traditional like
reverse harem or just you know a bunch of pretty boys one girl and just you've
seen the formula done before there was something special about this series and
walking out of the first episode I have to say I'm very impressed I think the
best way to describe this for anyone who hasn't experienced this yet is this is
a series with a lot of personality a lot of charm with a kind of supernatural
twist to kind of tie the entire package over what I liked with this first
episode is right away the visuals to the show are really impressive it kind of
has a retro aesthetic kind of that classic shoujo style that you know and love
from the manga kind of era around the time that this series was originally made
but it's definitely modernized there's a modern polish to it the backgrounds
are crisp and detailed the character designs they feel retro esque but still
modernize so they don't look ugly or just like unrefined or anything like that
it definitely kind of feels like if you were to take an older shoujo style
anime and kind of like redo it for a modern era this is what you would get it
looks gorgeous I think the animation for what it really was trying to do was it
had a lot of charming and comedic scenes that's where they kind of played
around with the style and kind of fluidity to the scenes and also the hyper detailed
shots to kind of give you that kind of romantic aura but overall like this was
like for being a setup episode getting you onboard with our main character Toru
and just the kind of like small handful of characters that we've got introduced
to you and there's going to be plenty more just based on the character listing
on sites like my anime list what I like is how not only did you get a lot of
information for the central character but you also got a pretty decent chunk of
information and also foreshadowing for where the series wants to go you have
this girl who has lost both of her parents it's actually a pretty tragic and
quite sad backstory of a girl who lost her father but had her mother and the
mother seemed to be the best damn imaginable but unfortunately accidents happen
and she was killed and it's just interesting to see like the episode starts off
she's living in a tent and you see that she's a workaholic and she's studying
it's like okay what led her to this path like why is she living in the woods
and why is she afraid to put burden on the person that she's supposed to be
living with well after her family died it was her grandfather who took her in
but then when renovations were happening around his home unfortunately there
wasn't enough space and because she's like such a hard worker and she realizes
that like you know one day I have to live alone so why can't it be now like
kind of makes you respect this character she's not this like dense kind of like
traditional where you look at and you say oh there's a bunch of pretty boys
she's gonna be the harem object right everyone's gonna latch on to her and you
assume she's gonna be a pretty OneNote design character sure she has her
moments to kind of be a little oblivious to be a little flustered and kind of
have these romantic scenes but she's a hard-working girl she's determined she
works hard she's obviously good at cooking and cleaning you know the
traditional stuff but in terms of her education it seems like she really puts
100% effort and just to see her drive it immediately makes you respect this
character and if you can respect the main character walking out of the first
episode that's a good sign for a series such as this I mean the episode starts
off talking those zodiacs and just like Japanese folklore and you're curious
like okay where is this going to go and something I appreciate and I assume
this will kind of carry over into future episodes what the subtitles did was
when she was talking about how she wanted to be a cat and not a dog they kind
of detailed it like this means like she wants to switch her Berthier so she
could be in the year of the cat I like that little detail because I'm not
someone who's familiar with all the terminologies and just kind of styles of
Japanese kind of folklore so as long as the subs can keep up with that when
they do specify things like that that's gonna be something that's well done
it's gonna help people like me understand with what they're saying over the
course the episode we're getting these like little hints of like okay you know
she wants to be a cat and then you'll have some characters like this prince of
the school who's like the cat's suck obviously there's gonna be something
specific with these zodiacs I wasn't expecting the punchline to be that the characters
were going to transform into their years so like the Prince turns into a rally
have one turns into a dog and then you have this other guy who comes crashing
in at the end who turns into a cat and it just kind makes sense so like you're
like okay you're building up to this kind of hatred for cats and like you know
don't try to be a cat and then you see actually why because this guy has like a
nrivalry with a cat and he's a rat like it's just kind of adorable how they
have this like serious or are surrounding them but then they'll just be able to
be comedy you write that in there and I love it when series can balance it
pretty damn properly and this seems like the perfect series where you can have
the more dramatic but also have the goofy and silly kind of wrapped around a
romantic banner this episode just had so much charm it's gonna take me a while
to learn all the characters names especially because it seems like there's
gonna be a pretty good handful that we're gonna focus on and kind of remember so
it will take me some time but still like I got a sense of the characters
personalities the central three that we're focusing on and how you have
characters who start off thinking okay they're kind of they're a bit of a slob
they just don't want to clean their place they just want someone to kind of
cook and clean for them but you definitely get a sense that they are a good
person who also enjoys kind of poking fun when they learn someone like her is
living in a tent instead of living in a house like they have this way of kind
of bickering kind of flirting kind of toying and kind of tormenting but it kind
of helped give this sense of personality a lot of times with series such as
these you kind of walk out saying okay you got five boys like these and you're just
like as different hairstyle and maybe a different quirk here or there but I
kind of got a sense of this overall connection that they have for one another
and it seems that like as the series gets going you're just gonna see more and
more personality and connections be formed and to know that there is this kind
of supernatural twist that's gonna be quite exciting especially for a character
who doesn't want to be a dog but wants to be a cat in terms of the year like I
don't exactly know where they want the supernatural story to go with this but
I'm quite excited to see that as it lets this kind of feel distinct from other
series that you might look at fruits basket for his clients and say okay I know
exactly what I'm gonna get into but then you see the ending of the episode and
you're like I actually have no idea what I'm going to get into and even before
the supernatural twist there is enough personality to make this feel like it
could stand on its own two legs but having this much personality and kind of
distinct just characteristics for all these characters on top of having the
supernatural twist I think this will be a damn fun anime and might even be
amazing depending on how far the character writing actually goes in and I think
this will be one of the top series for the season I mean there was a lot of
hype surrounding it but hype surrounding a series doesn't mean and you can have
very horrible series that get popular we see where that goes but to have this
much height and me walking out being like okay I understand obviously I don't
understand everything and why this is such a popular series but walking out of
the first episode it made someone like me who has no experience no connection
to the series except knowing it's popular in people that I know in them friends
with really loved this series walking out I can say you know what if it
continues on this path I can see myself being in your shoes being like this is
awesome a must watch and people should experience this especially knowing that
this will be a full adaptation and that they're giving it their all to make
sure that this is a proper adaptation of the source material and just making
sure everything about this just flourishes in the best possible way in a modern
2019 anime setting the first episode was honestly quite amazing I really like
the overall personalities the behaviors the amount of backstory and info we got
for our central character without it feeling like a major info dumping it was
more like a gradual transition to kind of understand where she's coming from
and what led her on in this current path in life and also just really make you
come out respecting this character and also not feeling like these boys are
just gonna be like a reverse harem object they actually have their own personalities
and knowing that there is a Zodiac supernatural twist like this is going to be
a fun series I'm really excited to see where the story is going to go I'm
really excited to see where the relationships want to go overall walking out of
episode 1 I have nothing but positive things to say in the first like the third
of the episode you might be able to say okay it feels a little too familiar to
what we've seen before nothing out of the ordinary but to see like where
ultimately went by the end nothing but positivity for this episode honestly
like I could see myself if this really is a good series like week after week I
could see myself watching both the sub and the dub for this because it's
obviously a pretty damn impressive series right now and I'm quite excited to
see where it's going to go so definitely if there's gonna be weekly reviews for
this one I'm very excited to see more and I can't wait to see where this story
is going to unfold and I know some people might look at the comedy in this
episode and say oh it's nothing that special you know you have the shifts in
style the over exaggerated faces and we've seen that time and time again but I
have to say like that type of comedy shift it's so perfect in series such as
these especially in like a series that trying to wrap itself around a serious
and kind of dramatic banner but also has enough personality to allow the
characters to goof off especially because it fits their age range I like
comedies such as that but it has to kind of distinguish itself it can't just be
like oh it's a shifting style we're gonna use the same art style for comedy and
we're gonna just rely on OneNote designs for the ship it kind of felt like in
this episode the amount of times that we kind of transitioned to have you know
flustered embarrassment in just over all goofy interactions there was enough
shifts in style that it makes me very hopeful that the more we see of the
comedy in the series the more different it will continue to feel while still
having a style that feels Fruits Basket I'm pretty excited to see where the
comedies gonna go I know not everyone's a fan of this type of comedy that kind
of like pull back and make you super chibi or just really ridiculous but that's
where it really works like obviously you're not gonna want to see stuff like
this in a Death Note or something like that but in terms of what fruits basket
seems to want to go for this type of comedy definitely works for it and I'm
very excited to see more especially knowing that there will be a more dramatic
and also supernatural story to kind of tie it together but I am quite
interested because I know the original anime it has you know there's a good
chunk for the fan base for it but there's also a good chunk saying like oh it
just went so off the manga didn't even adapt that much so there is kind of like
this love-hate relationship for the original anime and then you have this
massive love for the manga so I'm curious for manga readers for whether you
enjoy the original anime or you absolutely hate it what did you think of the
first episode for this like is this what you were hoping for for an anime
adaptation or did this just not live up to what you were expecting especially
with how much care they were trying to put into it and for anime originals
someone who's never experienced anything like myself what do you think did you
think ahead and much personality as myself or did you just think god this is
another anime and I'm probably not gonna keep up with it so I'd love to know
everyone's thoughts down that comment section below remember to leave a like if
you did enjoy this video and also be sure to subscribe if you happen to be new
around here but it's a next time everyone please take care and have a good one.

Fruits Basket
(2019) Episode 2 Review
so fruits basket episode 2 has arrived and it was even
better than the first episode and I loved last week's episode I was a great
introduction to the characters full of personality in life the comedy was
pretty good and with this week's episode we get exactly that but we also get to
learn a lot more about this family and also the drama that kind of resides in
it I really got invested in this week's up so because it really kind of kept
that charm of episode 1 that really made me happy and really just was adorable and
cute in a very unique way but also while diving into these characters so they
feel like actual people with their own problems and struggles while also
exploring the zodiacs and kind of what's going on with these boys learning that
essentially if they ever get sick or are hugged by the opposite sex they will
turn into their spirit animal which it will be one of the Chinese zodiacs and I
thought that was actually really cool like it could be easy to have something
like that just be a gimmick like oh a girl hugs you or whatever and you know
you get these kind of cute fun scenes like we get in this episode and that's
all they do with it but clearly there's a lot more at play with this family and
based on some of the characters such as Yuki being very kind of worried that
essentially Tohru would have to be removed because she discovered their secret
and we've learned in this episode that something similar happened to him in the
past where basically a large group saw this and because of the head of the
family saying you know people will view you as a freak he won't be able to have
friends you have to keep this a secret he basically had to lose all of his
friends and clearly didn't remake those friendships so it's pretty interesting
seeing just obviously the conflict within this family and how each of them are
trying to go about their lies in their own way while you have someone maybe
such as Kyo being very kind of hostile towards someone like Yuki because for
one hand they do have a pretty bad history in the zodiac race in terms of kind
of the cat getting screwed over by the rat but also there's probably some
personal real issues that are happening in the presence from their past so it's
nice to see that there are these conflicts that obviously will get more and more
relevant and probably will pull on our heartstrings down the line but it's nice
that this episode not only was able to keep that same kind of charm that was
present in episode 1 but also show us that there are real relationships here
and that they are people there more than just a guy who can turn into a cat or
a rat or a dog and then they have these kind of fun One Note personalities not
they're clearly people with their own feelings and when you see someone like
Yuki who is pretty damn terrified that for the first time there seems to be
like he might have another friend you know clearly they're trying to force
themselves away from this family to some degree like not going to the all-boys
school like the head of the house was instead going to a school that yes does
have a lot of females and you have to be extra cautious but at least you're
taking your own steps in life rather than being held down by someone who's
trying to kind of put you in a box when you want to leave said box so it's nice
to see that you know he's very worried he's that kind of seemed to me like he
was terrified because really based on what we've seen so far it doesn't look
like he really has any friends outside of his family and even some of the
people in his family he has like this hostility kind of relationship formed so
to have someone who clearly isn't scared isn't worried that you can turn into
an animal not calling you a freak and kind of proving that maybe what was said
to you in the past was incorrect and that there can be people who can form real
relationships with you I quite like that because Tohru is a really positive
girl and a really genuine girl who isn't in like a very artificial bubble she
really believes that these are good people and she has this like love for the cat
she wanted to change her year from being the year of the dog to the year of the
cat because she felt bad for what happened to the cat in the tail not being
able to get her own gear even with that said even though she has this love for
cat she still isn't looking at yuki as anything less or something like that she
sees him as being like you're my friend and if something happens if my memories
have to be a race and be sure to make friends with me again and I think that's
really important because it'd be so easy to have that dynamic just feel like a
harem relationship because on the surface level you can look at this show at a
first glance before you watch it and think it would just be a reverse Arum but
it's not it's clearly just a show about relationships and you see Yuki as
someone who's been thirsting for friendship because he can't have friendships
especially once of the opposite sex if that happens he might get hugged her
touch and turn into a rat and based on what the family said is that you'll be
viewed as a freak but clearly Tohru is someone who's like I want to be your
friend and even if my memories have to be a race and be sure to reintroduce
yourself to me because you're a good person and I want to be your friend and I
think that's really respectable and it really makes you believe in these
characters and their personalities and their own stories with kill so far being
my favorite out of all the cast outside of Toru obviously I really like his
personality because I really thought he would just be that guy trying to punch
Yuki for the entire show and clearly they're gonna have this rivalry but you
can see that he feels very disconnected from this family I mean it wasn't even
going to school he was training in the mountains there's clearly a lot on his plate
and he has a hard time expressing his emotions and in doing so he can actually
hurt people who are just trying to get close to him such as tow route and I
love how like winter is starting to open up more and more to him I like how
he's not just flipping a switch in me like oh she loves cats I'm going to be
friends with her or fall in love with her or anything like that no it's like
he's slowly opening up after this episode and I think it's a very realistic and
gradual pace that over the couple of seasons that this will run because this is
only the first season we're gonna get at least one more to wrap up this entire
story I imagine this will be a 2 core and then we'll take a break and get
another two core something like that but it's nice to see that there is this
steady buildup in how Toru has always loved cats and how like there's a year of
a cat but she's very scared as she's saying the wrong thing and that he's gonna
hate her and I love how he just has such a hard time expressing emotions
especially because he believed there would be no one who would be able to
really appreciate him say I love you and things like that but then you have
this girl who loves cats not scared of him or anything and it's gonna be really
interesting to see how his relationship is going to evolve with Tohru as so far
we already have a great relationship with Yuki and Tohru being this like really
great friend and not being able to have friends before so it'll be interesting
to see how kind of is different from Yuki's relationship with Tohru down the
line and where that's gonna go and it's gonna be fun to see just where this
case will go because right now we have an animal house right now you know it's
a lot of variety a lot of a kind of bickering and it really does feel like a family
like there's some hardships but I think there is a love deep down inside this
got to overcome their own problems it'll be interesting to see where it goes
but the overall comedy in this episode was also really fun I just love the
moments where they just shift and just have these like very simplistic but it's
the simplistic beauty that makes the comedy pop so well and this is probably
the first time I've seen that anime where they go though censoring nudity but
they don't do it basic like typically I'd be used to seeing like a white bar or
something like that but then they make it so majestic and fruits basket where
they're like glowing these like different color auras and I thought it was just
hilarious and a really solid way to get across censoring nudity without it
feeling like it was a censor bar or something like that and I just loved it
like even though you could easily see how it could grow old you know them
transforming by mistake I think with episodes 1 & 2 we're seeing just how
that style is gonna be more than just a comedy gimmick there's actually gonna
be repercussions if something bad happens and there's actually story mechanics
at play the opening song I have to give major props to I love this song it is
beautiful the overall animation for the opening is nothing less special like
90% of it is still frames but the song is so beautiful and majestic and really
just kind of sets the mood for fruits basket you know it's got this kind of
moving atmosphere where you kind of feel like it's beautiful but it also has
this sense of sorrow kind of lingering in the background and over the course of
this episode we really got a nice kind of arrangement of piano tracks and just
really good tracks to make the mood all the more emotional I think this series is
going to be amazing the deeper that we get into this count it has a style that
really works for it it feels like there's actual care into the personalities
and personal stories and this episode was even better than the first episode
which I thought was a great way to introduce newcomers to this world of fruits
basket and walking out of episode 2 I'm just even more excited than I was when
I walked out of episode 1 and I really can see this becoming an all-time great
once it does get its full adaptation and the quality continues because this is
gonna be a full adaptation of fruits basket and based on the production levels
so far that we've seen here and the fact that they're not just gonna do all in
one batch it is just the first season I think we're gonna have a great animate
by the time this wraps up a lot of people last week took what I was saying that
you could look at this series out of first glance and think it's a reverse
harem and they were taking it as me saying like I thought it was no it's not
what I was saying like if you look at the poster image or just kind of look at
the character listing you would think it's a reverse harem but I never thought
it was after episode 1 and even after episode 2 I think it's not a reverse
harem it's just a group of characters that are all gonna have their own
interesting connections with Toru I obviously think one of these characters
will fall in love with her it's interesting to see how they can have this
dynamic that typically would be a reverse harem but actually just foreign
ryokan actions and friendships and relationships be loved too just friendships
and families and I think that's really really important and respectable that
really makes fruits basket into something special I think it's gonna be really
cool just to see how all these characters open up to our main character and how
each of their relationships will kind of be different as so far we've already
seen that Yuki and Kyo are really different from one another and they have
their own feeling and just overall emotional connections that are being formed
and that's important so when I say it could look like one it's not me saying
that it is it's me saying that just appears to be at first glance before you
watch it but once you watch episode 1 and especially after you watch episode 2
it doesn't feel like it feels just like a genuine show that's trying to build
real emotional connections and its really respectable because most of the time
you would expect it be a one-and-done trope and we'd call it a day but here
we're having real emotional connections being formed there's comedy and there's
this very interesting personality that I can't wait to see where it's gonna go
in the future cuz it's a damn fine series and I know it's gonna be fantastic by
the time this first season does wrap up but for everyone who did watch this
week's episode of Fruits Basket B of manga fans anime originals like myself
what did you think of just the personal stories the drama the comedy where do
you think it's gonna go next week for anime originals let me know down that

Fruits Basket
(2019) Episode 3 Review
one of the reasons I love anime as a medium so much for
telling stories is you get these really effective but very simple shots that
are easy to overlook but if you dig into just the visual symbolism of what's
going on it really adds a lot of weight to a scene there's a moment where Yuki
is in his rat form and he's walking on a bridge with Tohru and he's talking
about how he feels like essentially a rat in a cage she's caged in this family
no matter how far he pushes back he can't escape this hell this is just held to
him and he is just in a prison and what we see is a shot that is so beautifully
done we're basically the guardrails to the bridge that they're walking on are
framed as if he's in a jail cell it's super simple easy to overlook but when
he's talking about feeling like a rat in a cage you literally see basically
jail bars in front of him which aren't actually jail bars but it's so so
effective and I love scenes like that it really just adds so much to what the
character is saying you can hear the emotion in the voice actor but when you
get these little but simple but very important moments with the visual
storytelling it really ties a scene together that easily could be something
that's disposable it really comes across is so magical so far with fruits bats get
each week has improved on the last I enjoyed where episode 1 was episode - blew
me away in episode 3 has left me speechless something that I feel like is
underutilized with modern anime and fruit basket is an older manga so it makes
sense why we're seeing something like this in the 2019 version but it's how
characters have self-doubt and kind of view the other as being someone that
they wish they could be and in doing so they sort of form this resentment
without realizing that they have their own kind of importance their own little
quirks that make them special and there is no such thing as the perfect person
everyone has their faults and pros and cons and weaknesses but it's up to you
to kind of make the best of what you have and I love the idea of Kyo and Yuki
because they both envied the other and for different reasons when you look at
Kyo he's actually someone who's very good with interacting with people in
social situations yeah he may have an anchor side and more aggressive side but
he easily can adjust and become friends with people even if he is a little
hostile at the beginning as we see how he plays with cards with people but he
is a very big hatred and kind of self-doubt and just resentment for this family
because he is the cat he's not a part of the 12 zodiacs there and essentially
all his life even people within the family have basically praise Yuki as being
the kind of golden child where he's just a filthy cat and no one likes him so
even though he has all these amazing quirks he really is great with people in
social situations he grew up in a family that essentially viewed him as nothing
and in doing so he feels like he's just worthless even when he starts training
with martial arts before Yuki Yuki catches up to him and kicks his ass it feels
like as if he's just weak and is useless when he compares himself to Yuki in
doing so he doesn't see his own self-worth and then with Yuki you have someone
who's actually kind of terrified of people in general he keeps trying to push
away from his family that puts him on a pedestal but that's not the life he
wants and he's trying to push back but he sees Kyo with someone who can easily
adjust to these situations that he wishes he could be a part of in doing so he
closes off himself and just people around him really don't get to see who he is
he feels like he's a fake faking this kindness to just help him in these
situations but that's not who he is and if he really showed who he was people
would appreciate him for who he is the same way they appreciate someone like
Kyo so even though they're spirit animals do resent the other it's really
interesting how on a personal level when they grew up they naturally formed
this kind of envious and resentment for the other because they kind of have
what the other wants Kyo just wants to fit into this family he doesn't want to
feel like a failure he wants to catch up to Yuki and just feel like he's
actually a part of something even though he has all these great quirks that
actually helped him kind of adjust to a normal life where with Yuki you have
someone who just wishes he could be in that normal life without feeling like
he's super special or artificial and is too good for others like kind of his
family raised him up I love areas of storytelling such as that because it really
is just human even though you have this more supernatural and spiritual twist
with the Chinese zodiacs and the whole like switching into animals it really is
a human thing that even if you have like a best friend throughout school you
maybe they get more popular than you and you kind of view them as like why
can't it be like them what's wrong with me and I like how human and just
believable that resentment and relationship is and you really do kind of feel
like totally wishing that they could just be friends and kind of make up and
kind of see the brilliance in each other one of the final lines that Toru says
about kind of like the plums on their back kind of recognizing that everyone
has something that's special about the other but because it's on your back
sometimes it's hard to recognize your own Worth and why you are someone special
and I thought that was so perfect it was just a perfect way to wrap up the
episode because that's really what this episode was about even though there was
a lot of comedic light-hearted and just really ridiculous and cute moments it
really was about just how sad their lives are because they really hate the
other but they don't hate the other really because of who they are but more so
they wish they could be them but they would never omit that I thought it's just
it's heartbreaking it's relatable and that's what I love about their
relationship right now is it so goddamn genuine and you can find ways to either
relate to your own life or just situations that you've seen when you grew up
going through score what you're currently seeing if you are in school and
that's what's so great a lot of anime they kind of forget that relatable moment
of kind of wishing you could be the other kind of hating yourself because you
feel like you don't connect in the way that you want to you maybe you want to
be more popular but you're a little afraid to go into that social circle maybe
it's very easy for you to be in that social circle but your family kind of
views someone else and your family is being a lot more special than you are and
you kind of feel like that outcast that relationship band the way they tie it
with the zodiacs with the cat and the rat is so perfect it naturally clicks but
it still has that relatable and human charm that really ties it together and
Tohru just kind of being almost like matchmaker here just trying to bring out
the best in the other trying to make them see that they have self-worth and
that they are special and kind and that kindness isn't just a one-trick pony everyone
has their own way of bringing out that kindness and the kind of comparison with
the candle I thought was just so beautifully done because really people like
Yuki they need to see that they are okay with who they are and that they just
need to put themselves out there from time to time not trying to judge
themselves as not being another but just appreciating who you are and
recognizing that's okay then even though there was a lot of dramatic a little
more realistic and heartfelt moments in this episode it didn't stop it from
having a lot of adorable moments I just love how these simple social situations
can occur like trying to figure out what they're going to do and then you just
see the most ridiculous comedic scenes possible I love the idea that essentially
these boys can essentially have their animals kind of latch on to them so
you'll just have them sitting in the classroom then oh look at all the cats
here it's just the little moments to kind of tie these episodes together and I
love it especially with some of the more ridiculous and just simplistic art
shifts that they do I love the idea that the cats are so simply drawn or then
you'll have Yuki who just slapping and curl essentially in the face when she's
trying to confess but I like how even though they have these more ridiculous
and comedic moments that are either adorable or just chuckle worthy they still
are able to transition back to that more dramatic and serious tone to kind of
highlight that maybe the way that they're acting isn't the way that they should
everyone feels like Yuki is this special person and no one's good enough for
him but that's not really what Yuki's trying to do and it kind of brings him
down so it's interesting how they can balance that comedic and dramatic moments
and very effectively the whole situation in the rain I thought was beautifully
done especially because like I always like that especially scenes where they
are crying and you know it's in the rain they weren't crying in this situation
but it still felt like he was crying on the inside almost like he just feels
like no one can bring him out of this situation then Tohru is just so kind so
beautiful that she's able to transition from this pouring rain soro scene to a
bright romantic looking scene where someone's like appreciating who he is maybe
for the first time in his life I really really like scenes like that I mean
there's obviously a lot of setup I mean we got the foreign exchange student who
I thought was just adorable and hilarious really excited to see where that's
gonna go obviously we got a crush a lurking behind a tree at the end of the
episode there's a lot of setup obviously for the future events for the series
but even just the one time just simple moments just the way the Friends of
Tohru act I loved just their simple but very effective moments where they can
just bring out this ridiculous aura to thing right back into the swing of
things with the fruits basket kind of dramatic charm that we know and love up
to this point this series is just great honestly I might even say this is
currently my favorite anime of the season in terms of new original ideas it's
just it's so simple with what it's trying to do but that's what makes it so
beautiful is because they're not trying to go overblown they have the zodiac
twist to it of course but it's just really real and human relationships that is
what makes it so great because a lot of times I think series try to go a little
too overboard maybe they try to go a little too crazy and in doing so it kind
of takes you back and not let you buy into the characters as actually people
but just an anime character but with fruits basket currently even though these
boys can transform into a rat or a cat or a dog whatever else it's still I view
them as a completely human employable person with really their self-doubt and
their hatred for themselves the envious and just the rage and kind of
determination to beat the other I really buy into it and I believe it in the
way that they just naturally tie in with the zodiacs is just the perfect way to
tie together an already impressive and really gripping character story but then
when you add that kind of zodiac twist to it it just ties it together with this
nice bow that really makes fruits basket into something special which is why I'm
really happy that this is gonna get a full adaptation and that we are just
inthe first season and we're gonna have at least one more to kind of wrap up
this entire story which honestly Fruits Basket is great I love the framing of
the shots I think it's just beautiful to look at the romantic and cute aura
that kind of radiates I love the Japanese voice acting it's so passionate and
raw and emotional it really grips me I love Tohru and I just love the boys in
general in terms of how they're delivering their lines very human very small
but noticeable fluctuations in their voice to really get you across that you
know they have a lot of emotions they're bottling it up thinking that that's
how they should go about it but now that tohru's here she's actually letting
them kind of open up slowly and just even though they might fight like at the
end of the episode it feels likethey're slowly but surely going to get to a
point that maybe they can talk with one another without trying to punch each
other in the face which really makes me happy and excited for the future of
fruits basket one thing I do gotta say is I'm very happy that a lot of
newcomers I'm seeing a lot of newcomers in the comments for fruits basket
reviews are appreciating like the attention to detail that I'm trying to go
into that's what I always do for my episodic so I always try to dig into the
finer details a lot of people try to skim over because that's just how I do it
when I watch an episode I'm not just looking at it at a surface level I'm trying
to dig into what's truly going on so I'm glad people are really appreciating
that and kind of recognizing what I'm doing here because it makes me happy to
see that people are actually noticing that I'm trying to dig into the finer
details and not just go on the surface level very shallow reviews things like
that so it makes me happy that a lot people are appreciating how I'm
structuring the fruits basket reviews because I'm having a blast reviewing it
like I said it's currently my favorite show probably of new series in the
spring 2019 anime season it's definitely a fun one to review and it's great to
finally experience this story that I've heard a lot about it know if I was
gonna love it or hate it but I'm definitely adoring it so far and I can under
and the height that it has so really thank you for everyone who has been
commenting and supporting these reviews I wasn't sure how good they were going
to do just in terms of growth analytics just comments and engagement but it's
really really awesome to see how well they currently are doing but for everyone
who watched this week's episode of fruits basket what did you think for manga
readers sales of the original anime anime originals like myself what did you
think of the very human and believable relationship between Yuki as well as Kyo
